About Menes Yahudah
Menes Yahudah is an Artist and Cultural Arts Educator. An Ethnomusicologist in his own right, having studied West African drumming in the USA and abroad. His career has spanned over 35 years. He received the Maryland Apprenticeship Grant for 15 years of apprenticeship with Baile McKnight [a Master Drum Craftsman, Drummer, Folklorist, and Educator]. Menes also spent many years studying under Master Drummers such as Mamady Keita and other village drummers during his visits to Africa.
Yahudah received the OSI-Baltimore Community Fellowship for his Cultural Arts Program "Muze It". He travels and performs with his Afro-Jazz Band as well as continues to perform with professional companies and ensembles.
Menes Yahudah is a husband and father of two. He is the Founder and CEO of Urban Foli Djembe Orchestra Performing Arts, Inc. and he is a co-Director of the Baltimore Rhythm Festival.
